Tokyo Tokyo TriNoma Flagship Store Launch (August 23, 2018)

Monday, August 27, 2018

Weee!!! For once, a flagship store is near my house!

Tokyo Tokyo unveiled its recently revamped and remodeled flagship store in TriNoma, and the good news is it's not just the place that got a makeover. They also unveiled new exclusive menu items that can only be found in their TriNoma branch!

In case you were wondering what was going on with all the construction works going on for months now, this is the result! The brand sought the architectural and interior design expertise of JJ Acuña of Bespoke Studio to remodel the store. Now, if you will notice, it feels much brighter and cheerier than your usual Tokyo Tokyo outlet.

And speaking of new dishes, here they are! Seen here are their Chicken Teriyaki Salad (reat most) and Crazy Kani Maki which are TriNoma exclusives. Their Black Garlic Ramen and Wagyu Cubes are new menu items available in all their branches.

The host for the day was radio DJ Katz Salao . And as you can see, the interiors! It feels like literally stepping onto a specialty restaurant in Tokyo, Japan.

Natalie Perez, VP for Marketing, explained that for the past decades, Tokyo Tokyo has been the pioneer in serving Japanese meals that are masterfully crafted to suit Filipino tastes. In the present, their campaign "Take Me To Tokyo Tokyo" is all about creating holistic premium Japanese dining experiences. As such, their TriNoma flagship store remodeling is just the first among many other store renovations they wish to undertake for their 60+ branches.

JJ Acuña talked about the elements he put together to create the new store interiors. They wanted to create a bright restaurant, compared to the usually dim stores, as a nod to the Instagram lifestyle. He also wanted to have this store to be viewed as the next generation or next era of Tokyo Tokyo, while honoring Japanese traditions.

Indeed, there is much to be excited about with such beautiful interiors!

As for food, theyr have their Tempura Dragon Maki (right rear), Crazy Kani Maki (left rear), and Chicken Teriyaki salad.

The Tempura Dragon Maki is definitely something that mayonnaise lovers will delight in, as the crunchy tempura in the middle of the roll is complimented by a very smooth special mayonnaise blend of mayonnaise, cheese sauce, and unagi sauce. They also drizzled it with tempura crumbs, which is why for crumb lovers like myself, it was definitely something heavenly.

Their Crazy Kani Maki, on the other hand, is a california maki rolled in black sesame seeds, and topped with a generous helping of crabstick and tempura crumbs. If you're addicted to crabstick, it's obviously a very very good choice. Personally, I liked the tempura maki more, but this ain't bad either.

Their new Wagyu Cubes also makes it super convenient for people as they do it quite well! It's nice that there is a place that does wagyu cubes well that has plenty of branches. It's not easy to order wagyu cubes online, and it's not easy for everyone to go to a hole in the wall resto everyone's been raving over, so this makes things a lot better for everyone.

Those who want to have an authentic Japanese ramen experience are also bound to love their Black Garlic ramen. The soup stock is a bit less rich than the usual tonkotsu broth from other ramen chains, but I actually like it more because sometimes the tonkotsu is too rich that it's already too overwhelming. They also needed to balance out the ramen with a milder broth as they already have a very strong flavor profile going on with the black garlic oil. This is a menu item I really liked and realistically see myself ordering over and over again.

While it's officially rainy season, when it's not raining, it's usually scorching hot. This is why it made sense for Tokyo Tokyo to introduce their red tea and green tea slushies even in the middle of August. This is definitely something to look forward to at their TriNoma flagship store after a long day.

Last, and most definitely not the least, is their new Waffle Bowl Sundae series! This one is the Turtle Sundae. I loved it soooo much! Fantastic! The soft serve is really, really, really creamy. It's comparable to Japanese soft serve. The caramel syrup, popcorn, and speculoos biscuit make for a truly delightful treat. The waffle bowls are also crunchy, so I think people will have no issue with gobbling up this whole thing within minutes. Too bad this is a TriNoma exclusive!

And! Before I forget! Tokyo Tokyo is having their "A Shot To Tokyo" photo contest! One lucky winner will be able to take a lucky companion to an all expense trip to Tokyo, Japan! Contest runs from August 29 to October 30; details will be made available at their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/tokyotokyophilippines/
